"If I stay, I'll die."Thomas Jerome Newton (David Bowie) comes to Earth to procure water for his dying planet. To do so creates a technology company to earn the money he needs to do so, but things get complicated when Mary-Lou (Candy Clark) falls in love with him, and he encounters the greed and ruthlessness of American big business.
Long, drawn out, and underplayed, this drama bears repeat viewing, as it reveals more each time, in this cult classic.
