body snatchers (1993)

"If we'd known what was waiting for us we would have run."
A teenage girl (Meg Tilly) and her family move onto a miltary base for the summer, due to her father's work. Displaced and a typical teen. she's not happy to be there. Then things start to become weird, with odd occurances leading to her discovery that aliens are cloning army and replacing personnel.
Featuring a screenplay co-written by Stuart Gordon, this is an interesting adaption of the classic 50's Macarthy paranoia sci-fi, and whilst it will never surpass the original, this is a solid and entertaining horror.

Thana (Zoë Lund), a mute woman gets raped twice on two separate occasions, whilst coming home from work. After the second rape she breaks down and decides to take revenge. Dressing suggestively she roams the streets, killing anyone who tries to take advantage. But her extra curricular activities spill over into her day job...
An early exploitation flick that effectively conveys the grim world of 80' New York.

driller killer (1979)

The artist Reno Miller (Abel Ferrara) shares a loft with his girlfriend Carol (Carolyn Marz), and Pamela (Baybi Day). He spends his days battling to finish what he believes to be his masterpiece. The pressure of this and the continuous rehearsals of the punk band downstairs cause Reno to loose sleep, sending him into psychosis. This madness compels him to take to the streets, taking his frustrations out on the homeless, with a portable drill!
Despite its tarring as a video nasty, this is actually a well thought out, though rough looking film, mirroring the New York in which the protagonist lives.
