battle for the planet of the apes (1973)
"Stop! Stop! Caesar forbids yoooooou!"
Ten years after the apes takeover of the planet, and Caesar (Roddy McDowall) is having problems maintaining peace between the apes and man; hindered by militant gorilla and human factions intent on fermenting civil war, in order to snatch power for themselves.
The fifth and final film of the series is befuddling but entertaining, don't expect it to explain the actions of the previous films, in what looks more like a pilot for the tv series.

dream warrior (2003)
"Some day a hero will come, and a child will rise to lead them."
A post-apocalyptic future sees the population divided along genetic lines. With the normal population terrified of their super-powered cousins, the 'mutants'. Parish (Lance Henriksen), a human leader is determined to track down and kill these super-humans, especially one called Rage (Daniel Goddard). He sees this as a duty, in order to preserve racial purity, but Rage is only concerned with saving the newly born 'chosen one'.
Mad max styling, via a gravel pit just outside Zagreb. If this is the future, I think I'd be happy being dead! At least the prescence of Sherilyn Fenn pretties up the place.

hot shots (1991)
"My eyes are ceramic. Caught a bazooka round at Little Big Horn. Or was it Okinawa? The one without the Indians."
The Airplane team decide to parody Top Gun, with a story about a talented but unstable fighter pilot (Charlie Sheen) who has to overcome the ghost of his father and save a mission that has been sabotaged by unscrupulous weapons manufacturers.
As usual Lloyd Bridges effortlessly steals the show, in this entertaining spoof, but it never reaches the heights that that Airplane franchise reached.

beat street (1984)
"You're a wonderful breaker."
Kenny (Guy Davis), an aspiring DJ, from the South Bronx, and his best friend, a promoter, try to get into show business by exposing people to hip-hop music and culture. Their dreams look like coming true when they meet Tracy (Rae Dawn Chong), from uptown who is a composer and choreographer.
Woeful lets put on a show right here film, but it excells in being a fantastic time-capsule of life in the Bronx in the early 80s, especially the area's hip-hop culture of the time.
cinderella 2000 (1977)
"Why can't my dreams come true."
Cinderalla (Catharine Burgess), lives in a future dystopian time, where sex is rationed out by the leaders, and our poor heroine is a put upon servant for the rest of the family.
A soft-core adventure, with added musical interludes: still rubbish though.

godzilla (1998)
"We...need...bigger...guns."
Following some French nuclear tests in the pacific a lizard becomes irradiated, grows abnormally large and sets off to wreak havoc on New York City. Trying to find and nulify the beast is Dr. Niko Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick), a tv journalist, Audrey Timmonds (Maria Pitillo), and her cameraman, 'Animal' Palotti (Hank Azaria), and some mysterious Frenchmen, including Philippe Roache (Jean Reno).
This was nominated for five Razzies, and won for Worst Remake, and Worst Supporting Actress. It's not as bad as all that, its big, its brash, loud, and entertaining in a summer blockbuster way, just not as entertaining as its original Japanese cousin.
