king kong vs godzilla (1962)

"King Kong could tear Tokyo apart with its bare hands and we wont give him the chance."
A pharmaceutical company seeks out a berry that only grows on a Pacific island. Whilst there they find a giant ape - Kong and decide to bring it back to Japan as an exhibit. Meanwhile Godzilla decides to make another appearance...
By this time we all know what to expect with the franchise, fun escapism of the rubber suit variety.

cocaine bear (2023)

"The bear... it loves coke!"
A drugs courier drops himself and a load of cocaine in a forest, only for a bear to get a liking for the drug and do anything it can to source more! Into this mayhem wanders a mother (Keri Russell) looking for her kid, a detective (Isiah Whitlock Jr) and the drug dealer (Ray Liotta), amongst others, all of whom live to regret meeting this irritated bear!
A grand mash up of comedy and eco-horror delivered by a fine ensemble cast delivering a twist on a true story!

as long as they're happy (1955)

"She's not brazen, dear. She's blonde. You must get yourself some glasses."
Teenager Gwen (Janette Scott) tricks the singing star Bobby (Jerry Wayne) into visiting her house. He in turn is charmed by her kooky family and they challenge the father, John (Jack Buchanan), to become more spontanious.
A charming ensemble cast make an endearing comedy from what is a hodge-podge of ideas in this pre-rock and roll screwball farse and watch out for Diana Dors as an It girl.

dr jekyll likes them hot (1979)

AKA Dottor Jekyll e gentile signora
The evil Dr. Jekyll (Paolo Villaggio), is an unscrupulous scientist aided by his wicked secretary Barbara Wimply (Edwige Fenech), and a gang of thugs led by Pretorius (Gordon Mitchell). Unfortunately his plans of world domination are twisted when he becomes Mr Hyde, whose personality is the oposite of the nasty Dr Jekyll.
A lamentable slapstick comedy featuring un-PC jokes about Hyde's gay persona.

troll 2 (2025)

"Have you found something else?"
Nora Tidemann (Ine Marie Wilmann) is again recruited to help out Andreas Isaksen (Kim Falck) when he reveals that the Govt has found another Troll. This time he is hibernating, but what will happen if he wakes up?
More of the same, with a similar plot of the team puzzling out how to stop a rampaging troll. If you were entertained by the first film, then you should be happy enough with this new installment.

troll (2022)

"You do know that there's some truth to every fairytale."
Norwegan road builders are tunneling through a mountain range when they disturb an ancient creature. Could it be in fact a troll? Paleontologist Nora Tidemann (Ine Marie Wilmann) is brought in to give her assessment and soon realises that maybe the storybooks were true!
Yes we've seen this all before, and its not a patch on Troll Hunters, but it is a fun watch. So cut the carping and just let it entertain you.

the wildcats of st trinian's (1980)

"I demand my pupils back!"
The pupils of St. Trinian's have decided they want to form a union so they can strike. Flash Harry (Joe Melia) advises them that they need to consolidate with other schools by infiltrating them...
Fifth installment of the St Trinian's films and one that is forgotten for a reason despite a plethera of well known names packing out the cast.

talk of the devil (1967)

"Made it you have.
Stephen Wallace (Tim Barrett) has the hots for the glamorous Wendy (Suzan Farmer), but she is less interested, so makes a faustian pact...
A half-hour comedy that is more of a curio than comedy.

renfield (2023)

"You stood up to him! How did you do that."
After centuries of serving Dracula (Nicolas Cage), the pair are hiding out in New Orleans and Renfield (Nicholas Hoult) meets policewoman (Awkwafina) who gives him the gumption to finally ready to rid himself of his master.
A breezy gore filled horror-comedy, that brings the relationship of Dracula and his servant Renfield up to date.

kneecap (2024)

"Cowboys were proper cunts!"
Naoise (Móglaí Bap) and Mo Chara (Liam Óg) are two Catholic boys having fun growing up in post troubles Northern Ireland when they are brought together with music teacher JJ (Dj Próvai), and they form Kneecap, who rap in their native Irish.
A psuedo-history of the band Kneecap where it helps to be a fan or at least know some background history about Ireland.

what a whopper (1961)

"That could be the mating call of the monster!"
Tony (Adam Faith) is hawking around his book on the Loch Ness monster, with very little success. Until it is suggested that he fabricates evidence of the creature and he sets out to do so with his friends (including Terence Longdon and Carole Lesley).
The good and great of British comedy cameo throughout this breezy comedy.

smart alec (1951)

"Any message for Sylvia"
Alex (Peter Reynolds) is a bounder who develops a plot to literally get away with murder, and everyone is stumped as to how he has done it. Especially after he is brazen enough to reveal his masterly plan after he is cleared of the murder.
Intreging crime drama quickly disolves into a slap-stick comedy once the crime comes to be investigated as the likes of Charles Hawtrey get involved. A truely oddball how-done-it.

wingwoman (2023)

"He's a bad guy and kind of dangerous."
AKA Voleuses
Carole and Alex (Mélanie Laurent and Adèle Exarchopoulos) are expert thieves who have tired of their life of crime, but their boss is reluctant to let them leave. So she pursuades them to do one last job and use Sam (Manon Bresch) as their driver...but will Marraine (Isabele Adjani) really let them move on?
French buddy comedy/crime drama, features lots of action, and lightning dialogue.

our miss fred (1972)

"We must stop meeting like this"
Fred Wimbush (Danny La Rue) is a drag act playing to the troops during WWII and is captured by the Germans in France. He then has the good fortune to be released as they think he's a girl, and remains in character whilst trying to escape back to Britain.
Vaguely comic slapstick overplayed for all its worth!

queen kong (1976)

"Oh Ray when this endless night turn into day?"
A tough female directoer Luce Habit (Rula Lenska) and her film crew drag good for nothing Ray Fay (Robin Askwith) to Africa, to film an adventure film, but he is soon spotted and kidnapped by the Nabongas, a female tribe lead by (Valerie Leon) who want to sacrifice him to Queen Kong...
Torturously unfunny spoof!

the boogie man will get you (1942)

the boogie man will get you (1942)"Something always goes wrong."
Young divorcee Winnie Slade (Jeff Donnell) buys a rundown house from an eccentric professor (Boris Karloff) and tries to convert it into a hotel. Unfortunately the professor is piling up a lot of dead bodies in the basement due to his experiments on travelling salesmen!
Reminiscent of Arsenic and Old Lace, both Lorre and Karloff give it their all, but it doesn't quite match up to the screwball antics of the later picture.

finders, keepers (1966)

"Time Drags"
Cliff and The Shadows travel to Spain for a gig, but find out that a small bomb has been dropped on the town. So they decide to find the bomb and return it! But a Colonel Roberts (Robert Morley) also wants it, to sell to the highest bidder.
Lesser Cliff musical, with thin plot and even thinner songs.

army of the dead (2021)

"Did you see her die?"
Following on from the heist comedy Army of Thieves, the search for the third of the legendary Wagner safes leads Sebastian, now called Ludwig (Matthias Schweighöfer), to Las Vegas, when recruited by Scott Ward (Dave Bautista). Complicating things is that Vegas is now a quarantine for zombies and about to be nuked! Wonderful mix of drama, comedy and horror, in this stylish looking crime heist twist. Yes there are terrible plot holes, but its a zombie film not war and piece!

army of thieves (2021)

"It's not just about the money, Brad. It's about the quest."
Sebastian (Matthias Schweighöfer) is a bank clerk with the hobby of safecracking, who is recruited to crack three legendary safes by Gwendoline (Nathalie Emmanuel), but as usual it very rapidly gets much more complex...
An entertaining heist comedy drama, that hints at the zombie film it prequels.

fiddlers three (1944)

"It's not laughter you are after."
A trio of sailors, (Tommy Trinder, Sonnie Hale and Diana Decker), are transported back in time to Nero's Rome, and Tommy convinces the emperor that he is able to prophetise the future.
Everyone had to make sacrifices during the war, and this is one of them! Only enlivened by an early appearance of James Robertson Justice as a Roman Centurian, and Elisabeth Welch singing Drums In My Heart.
