the grudge (2004)
"Three years ago, three of my colleagues were investigating what happened in that house. Two died mysteriously. The third was never found."
An American in Tokyo (Sarah Michelle Gellar), encounters a vengeful spirit, and must find a way to stop it before it claims more victims.
Shimizu remakes his own work, Ju-On, for the American market, and whilst it remains a satisfying Japanese shocker, it somehow looses something in the translation.

satanico pandemonium (1975)
aka La sexorcista.
"Accept me."
Satan tests a young nun (Cecilia Pezet) tempting her with powerful visions of sexual fantasies, in order to get her to give up her service of God. Once seduced to the dark side, she then embarks on an orgy of seduction and murder.
A well made, offbeat, but uneven film, that for all its promises of sex, perversion and mayhem, is actually quite uninteresting.

the night evelyn came out of the grave (1971)
aka La Notte Che Evelyn Uscì Dalla Tomba.
"Are you sure that Evelyn is really dead?"
The wealthy Lord Alan Cunningham (Anthony Steffen), spends his time enticing beautiful women to his castle so he can have his wicked way with them. All brought on by a breakdown following his wife's death.
Good looking psychological thriller.

sex is my business (1975)
Mary Millington starts in this 8mm silent short, soft-core exploitation film. The minimal plot sees a number of women working in a sex shop, where they are more than happy to help the customers release their pent up emotions.
Low budget and low rent. I'm sure it served a purpose in its time.

mary millington's true blue confessions (1980)
"The universally celebrated Mary Millington."
Billed as a tribute to the (then) recently deceased British sex star Mary Millington. What we get is not a tribute, but a quickie cash-in.

erotic nights of the living dead (1980)
aka Sexy Nights Of The Living Dead. Le notti erotiche dei morti viventi
"Take the wheel a minute."
An American property developer arrives on a Caribean island with plans to develop a resort. What he finds are tales of voodoo and zombies rising from their graves.
A film that falls between a number of stools being a porno zombie horror, and doesn't satisfy as either.

come play with me (1977)
"We must show an interest..."
The minimal plot sees two forgers hole up at a quiet health farm, hiding from their gangland bosses. Then some strippers arrive and the place livens up.
Makes the Carry On films look like Woody Allen! How sex starved the British public was, is evidenced in the fact that this played for four years in London's west end. A sex comedy, with pityfully little of either.

hellboy (2004)
"Come on John, lets go fight some monsters."
Professor Bruttenholm (John Hurt) discovers Hellboy (Ron Perlman), a demon summoned by the Nazi's during the war, and dedicates his life to working with him. As he grows Hellboy is used to vanquish other demons that emerge, but his biggest task comes when Rasputin (Karel Roden), the nazi that summoned him originally, comes back to take over the world.
A special effects riven extravaganza, that is partial successful; enjoyable, without being engaging.
