the acid eaters (1968)

"Hello honey, you got some room for some sex starved females?"
Friday evening, and a group of office workers down tools and head out into the countryside in search of the White Pyramid, take drugs, and generally have a good time...
Sex, drugs and rock and roll, exploitation style, i.e. on the cheap, with loooongg shots of bikers riding around to a generic surf soundtrack, and making out with topless go-go dancer types. The most shocking thing in this film, is the actors total disregard to littering!

wild rebels (1967)

"Whats going on?"
Stock car driver, Rod Tillman (Steve Alaimo), gives up on racing and hooks up with biker gang the Satans Angels. The trouble is that their income is gained by robbing banks and Rod decides to go undercover for the cops.
A dated attempt at jumping the mc gang genre, with a few musical numbers thrown in to liven things up.

devil rider! (1970)

aka Masters Revenge.
"Why did this have to happen to me."
When a young rebellious girl called Kathy (Sharon Mahon) goes missing after hooking up with a biker gang, her boyfriend Jim Aldridge (Ridgely Abele) is determined to find her. Good job he's a karate black belt!
Simplistic, (or just plain dumb) biker movie cash in.

werewolves on wheels (1971)

aka Angel Warriors 2.
"Shirley? She was a great freak man."
A biker gang turn up at a monastery, which unknown to them is the home of a Satanic church, who curse one of their number to become a werewolf, in revenge for them smashing up the place. As they hit the road, little do they know that they are being preyed upon by one of their number.
A mix of Easy Rider, with an art house horror.

the black 6 (1973)

"There ain't no tomorrow, there is just right now!"
Being a biker is hard enough, but being a black biker gang is even tougher! These Vietnam vets, are happy with their freedom. That is until one (Gene Washington) finds out that his brother has been killed by a white biker gang for going out with a white girl. So what is he meant to do, but find 'em and kill 'em.
A rather tame take on the biker genre, which features a cast of all star football players as the black six.

bigfoot (1970)

"They're practically sub-human."
When a biker (Christopher Mitchum) has his girl stolen by a bigfoot in the woods, he decides to rescue her, with the help of two travelling salesmen (John Carradine & John Mitchum), who see the chance of a quick buck.
With a plot written on the back of a cigarette packet, and a budget that could just about buy a pack. They added some cheesecake models to act as distraction from the acting: prime drive-in fodder.

angels from hell (1968)

"We're full on super scooter trash man."
Biker Mike (Tom Stern), returns from a tour of Vietnam, and dreams of using his newly found skills to organize the bikers, bringing them together into one huge outlaw gang. He manages to oust the old president, and has himself installed in his place, but with his reckless disregard for all but himself, it's just a matter of time before there is all out war between the bikers and the police...
Cheap take on the outlaw biker flick, with Arlene Martel providing the female interest. Not a great deal happens of interest until near the films end; they meet some hippies on a run and get hassled by the man.

angels hard as they come (1971)

aka Angel Warriors.
"These guys love me." Long John (Scott Glenn) and his drug dealing biker friends hook up with The General (Charles Dierkop) and his biker gang the Dragons to party in the desert. All goes well until a hippy girl is killed and the General blames Long John.
Co-written by Jonathan Demme, this is like a 101 of biker films, with all the components of a good exploitation there, just lacking that little something.

girl in gold boots (1968)

"I'm here to be a dancer."
Michele Casey (Leslie McRay) is encouraged to journey to LA to become Go-Go Dancer, Once in Hollywood she has no trouble getting herself a job in a hip nighclub, but then drugs enter the scene.
A second rate b, though better than Showgirls, (which has a similar plot), merely on the fact that it cost a fraction of that turkey to make. Also although the star cannot dance you've still gotta love the go-go scenes.

pink angels (1976)

"Jesus Christ you're all faggots!"
Six savage bikers come together to travel to Los Angeles, but they hide a secret...this gang is gay.
A surprisingly well made and enjoyable film, that spoofs the Easy Rider biker flick about finding yourself in the real America. I especially loved the worst Liverpudlian accent I've ever heard.

stray cat rock (1970)

"Outta my way."
A female biker rides into town, takes on a rival biker gang and along the way some psychedelic rock clubs.
Stylish Japanese JD flick, where the woman have the balls.

teenage gang debs (1966)

Terry (Diane Conti), a tough Manhattan girl joins a Brooklyn girl gang, attached to local toughs, the Rebels. She soon sets her sights on Johnny (John Batis), the Rebels leader, and sets about getting him, using her obvious charms and vicious clawing action! She then sets about manipulating her way to the top using the young and dumb Nino (Joey Naudic) to do so.
Very cheap film, that uses a realistic, grim and grimy style to depict teenage Brooklyn life. Full of rock n roll, tough broads and JD punks. It's a Shangri-las track brought to life. Some nice scenes, that look cool, a couple of great songs, and hip dialogue daddy-o.

psychomania (1973)

aka Death Wheelers Are... Psycho Maniacs. The Death Wheelers. The Frog. The Living Dead.
A motor cycle gang aptly called the Living Dead find out a route to eternal life. Tom Latham (Nicky Henson) leads the gang of misfits and finds out through his mother (Beryl Reid) how to really become the living dead. Once he achieves this goal, he convinces most of the rest of the gang to follow him. Thus they are free to terrorise the town, free in the knowledge they can never die again. Unfortunately things don't quite go to plan and Tom's girlfriend has second thoughts about it all as does his mother.
A great British horror, featuring witchcraft, horror and the right level of tongue in cheek humour. Cheap and cheerful in all the right ways.

she-devils on wheels (1968)

The everyday life of the Maneaters, a female motor-cycle gang is one of bike races, parties, loving and fighting. Led by Queen (Betty Connell) they chew up and spit out men for the fun of it, but new initiate Karen (Christie Wagner) seems to be rather taken by one particular man, something that just ain't done in the Maneaters. To prove her loyalty Karen has to watch as he's beaten, then made to drag him behind her bike. But this idealistic lifestyle is threatened when a rival male gang decides to move into their territory. It's time for the Maneaters to prove they ain't no pushovers.
By 1968 there had been a few successful bikesploitation films, enough to attract the attention of Lewis, who decided he wanted a part of the action. What he provided was a low budget film with a motley assortment of women in go-go boots and bikes looking for thrills, which involves lots of implied sex, and visual violence. It's Lewis's usual mix of poor acting, and bad direction, but even so there is enough here to make it watchable, and even entertaining in parts, even if it is for the wrong reasons.

motor psycho (1965)

aka Motor Mods and Rockers. Rio Vengeance.
Made prior to Faster Pussycat, but with a similar outline, only this time it's three men out for kicks. Motor psycho is straighter and darker than Faster Pussycat. Where Pussycat is campy and fun, Psycho is nasty. Though Meyer can't stop himself adding some camp humour and sex along the way. Here Russ depicts the journey of Brahmin, a Vietnam vet suffering post traumatic stress, as he and his gang rapes and murders its way across the Californian desert. Following the rape of a Vet's wife, he chases them into the desert, hell bent on vengence. A mission that is complicated when he stumbles upon Haji, another victim of Brahmin's murdeous rage.
This has everything you expect from a Meyer film, including larger than life predatory women and weak willed men. But it also has a dark heart in the otherwise hip and cool young protagonists. Although not explicit in any way, you can see the video nasty peaking over the horizon with this grittier depiction of Meyers world.

wild zero (2000)

This is a movie with everything and more. A Japanese alien invasion, zombie, love story, comedy, involving a transsexual, an effete psychopath and Guitar Wolf, the self-proclaimed coolest rock n roll band in the world. What's not to like.
Won't win any awards, but certainly great to watch on a Saturday night with some beers.

the leather boys (1964)

Sidney J Furie directed this mix of kitchen sink drama and biker film. Which is notable for it's oblique reference to one of the characters being gay.
Reggie is a young newlywed who is having trouble when he's befriended by Pete and they bond over their mutual love of bikes. But does Pete want to be more than just a friend to Reggie?

the damned (1963)

aka These Are The Damned.
"My children are the buried seeds of life."
1963 saw the release of this great curio. A mix of Village of the Damned and The Wild One. Oliver Reed knocks around a seaside town causing trouble. When his sister takes up with an American, he makes his dislike plain to see. When they run off they stumble on a scientific establishment that is experimenting on a group of school children, and try to help them.
The film exudes a cold war paranoia where the bomb could be dropped at any moment, and asks a lot of questions, whilst giving no answers.
