jet storm (1959)

Ernest Tilley (Richard Attenborough), tracks down the man who killed his daughter in a hit-and-run. Unfortunately his plan to enact his vengeance takes place on a trans-atlantic plane journey and the other passengers have their own opinion on the unfolding drama.
A packed plane, full with name actors, whose stories each unfold in this early disaster movie.

colonel march investigates (1955)

aka Colonel March of Scotland Yard
"D-3, known to some as the Department of Queer complaints."
Boris Karloff is Colonel March, the head of Scotland Yards Department 3, which investigates various supernaturally-tinged crimes.
Anthology which combines three episodes of this series, showing Karloff off as a intriguing detective. Though the stories are more crime drama than supernatural thrillers.

tarzan's savage fury (1952)

aka Tarzan, the Hunted.
"Boy speak English. Boy English."
Two men (Charles Korvin & Patric Knowles) visit Tarzan (Lex Barker), one masquerading as Tarzan's cousin. They are not there on a family visit, but are after diamonds, and convince Jane (Dorothy Hart) that they need to get control of those diamonds for the good of England.
Another solid jungle adventure.

hell drivers (1957)

"He's come to take Red's place."
Joe (Stanley Baker) gets a job driving balast. Pay depends on how many loads you deliver, and pressure is one to deliver as many as possible each day, speed no object. Most of this pressure comes from the drivers leader and local bully Red (Patrick McGoohan). Further tension comes from Lucy (Peggy Cummins), the secretary who is going out with Joe's only friend Gino (Herbert Lom), but unfortunately Joe and Lucy have a mutual attraction. But why is Joe so determined to keep his nose clean, and how much will it take for him to crack. So sit back and await the sparks.
A gritty black and white drama, exploring the work and life of post war Britain, full of soon to be well known actors, all giving great performances.

mysterious island (1961)

The American civil war is in full swing and Capt. Harding (Michael Craig) is a prisoner of war itching to escape, and escape he does, with the aid of an observation balloon. Capt Harding and a motley crew end up crashing on a deserted South Pacific island and are soon joined by two women whose ship has floundered in a storm. There they soon realise they are stranded and have to use their wits to survive. Then they spot a pirate ship and two others stumble on a submarine, the fabled Nautilus; Captain Nemo's sub that was reported sunk eight years previously.
A mix of Swiss Family Robinson with 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and featuring some of Ray Harryhausen's best stop motion animation makes for a great little adventure.
