death is a woman (1966)

aka Love Is A Woman.
"What's the matter? Never seen blood before?"
A British agent Dennis Parbury (Mark Burns) is sent to a Mediterranean island to undercover who is controlling the dope smuggling, but finds himself framed for murder, and has to divert his attentions into trying to clear his name.
Exotic location, stylish women, and a swinging 60's soundtrack, unfortunately none of these can divert from the stilted story.

heights of danger (1953)

"Gosh I'm late."
John Burton (Basil Appleby) runs a small garage in an English village. Unfortunately it's not making money and one of his children comes up with the idea of winning a mountain rally on the continent for the prize money. But standing in their way is Croudson (Jack Melford), the owner of a chain of garages, who is determined to buy Burton's garage, and will stop at nothing to prevent Burton from winning.
Made by the British Pathe Documentary Unit as a showcase for the MG TD sports car, this is a 'jolly hockey sticks' type drama, focusing on the children and the adventures they have. They certainly don't make them like this any more.

the cosmic man (1959)

Military radar over the US pick up strange and fast moving craft. At the same time reports come in that there is a strange globe like object found floating in a canyon. Colonel Matthews (Paul Langton) and Dr. Karl Sorenson (Bruce Bennett) are sent to investigate, staying at a local woman's b & b. There then develops the age old military vs scientist routine, all watched by the mysterious cosmic man (John Carradine) who watches. Then decides he may as well check into the b & b himself!
The usual 50's theramin heavy alien sci-fi that's basically an inferior remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. Enjoyable if into people spouting pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo. Or aliens in bottle bottom glasses, such a great disguise!

one million years bc (1966)

A story of love and jealousy amongst the dinosaurs! Banished by his tribe, Tumak is forced to wander and survive on own. He stumbles across a tribe of gentle people living by the sea, but he's soon in trouble with them as well and has to leave, but not before he has made an impression on Loana who decides to go with him to brave the harshness of this pre-historic world.
Featuring animation by Ray Harryhausen, and some up and coming Hollywood talent, this is Hammer in blockbuster mode. Hardly a historic classic - since when did dinosaurs share the earth with cavemen? But the distraction of Raquel Welsh in a fur bikini takes your mind off such things. An old fashioned adventure story done well. Enjoyable nonsense and much better than 10,000 BC the recent Roland Emmerich epic.
