frankenstein meets the wolfman (1943)

"Alive!"
Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr.), seeking a cure for his malady, enlists the aid of a Dr. Mannering (Patric Knowles), and when they find Frankenstein's monster (Bela Lugosi) they work to revive it.
Lots of atmosphere adds to the fun let down slightly by Bela's monster act.

victor frankenstein (2015)

"I give you life.".
Igor (Daniel Radcliffe) is rescued from a cruel existence in a circus, transformed and turned into the assistant of Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy). He is quickly drawn into research that he soon realises is one step too far, and a murder investigation run by the God fearing Inspector Turpin (Andrew Scott).
Modernist twist on the tale, delving into the true monster, as seen through the eyes of his assistant Igor, that has its moments, but never fires on all cylinders.

the revenge of frankenstein (1958)

aka Blood of Frankenstein.
"I swore I would have my revenge. They will never be rid of me!"
The Baron (Peter Cushing) escapes execution and moves to Germany, to ply his trade, cunningly renamed as Dr Stein, and with the help of Dr Kleve (Francis Matthews) he starts piecing together his new monster.
Fine gothic horror sequal to the Curse of Frankenstein.

munster, go home! (1966)

"Marilyn, if you should happen to meet any strange men on board, be sure and speak to them."
The Munster family inherit a British estate, unfortunately its the base for some counterfeiters, including Terry-Thomas and John Carradine, who set about trying to scare the family off the property.
Made for TV, but theatrically released upgrade of the tv series, does little to engage.

i frankenstein (2014)

"You're only a monster if you behave like one."
Having killed his creator, Adam (Aaron Eckhart) is attacked by demons. The Gargoyles save him and drag him into the age old war between the Gargoyles and demons.
Film that throws out the Frankenstein story in the first minute, to try and replicate the Underworld franchise. Unfortunately like Frankenstein's monster, this film has no real soul.

frankenstein meets the spacemonster (1965)

Aliens lead by Princess Marcuzan (Marilyn Hanold) and Dr. Nadir (Lou Cutell) attack a number of space probes, in the belief that they are missiles. The pair pursue one damaged probe, and its robot pilot frank (Robert Reilly) as it lands on Puerto Rico, and its up to Dr Steele (James Karen) and his assistant Karen Grant (Nancy Marshall) to stop their evil plans...
A stock footage low budgeter, from the so bad it's good model.

blackenstein (1973)

aka Black Frankenstein.
"Hurrrggg."
Crippled Vietnam vet Eddie (Joe De Sue) is given a new lease of life when a brilliant surgeon (John Hart) gives him new limbs. Unfortunately the Dr's jealous assistant (Roosevelt Jackson), in love with Eddies girlfriend (Ivory Stone), fiddles with Eddie's meds, transforming him into a hideous killer.
Amateurish, badly paced exploitation flick. One to watch, because it's bad, but don't expect to gain anything out of it.

assignment terror (1970)

aka Los monstruos del terror. Dracula Vs. Frankenstein. Operation Terror. The Man Who Came from Ummo. Dracula Versus Frankenstein.
"Our superior minds must always be in control."
Aliens bring two scientists (Michael Rennie and Karin Dor) back from the dead, so they can re-animate various monsters, including a werewolf, Frankenstein's monster, a mummy, and a vampire.
Written and starring Paul Naschy, so you know that a werewolf can't be far away in this convoluted tale, featuring every horror monster you can think of.

"The most incredible case I've ever come across."
Maria (Simonetta Vitelli) the daughter of Count Frankenstein (Rossano Brazzi) returns to his castle, with some guests, in preparation for her wedding, including Krista (Christiane Rücker), who the count takes a great interest in. But trouble comes when he dismisses his dwarf servant (Michael Dunn), who immediately swears he will take revenge, and he sees an opportunity when he finds a Neanderthal man in the caves near the castle.
Charmingly shambolic exploitation feature, that factors in all the horror cliches, and adds some gratuitous nudity.

santo vs frankenstein's daughter (1972)

aka Santo vs. la hija de Frankestein.
"It's forbidden to talk about age here."
Dr. Freda Frankenstein (Gina Romand) is after Santo's blood to complete her youth serum, and has Frankenstein's monster to help her get it.
Despite his wrestling moves this Santo movie lacked much of the bizarre action that usually accompanies him, and fails to sustain my interest.

vampire girl vs frankenstein girl (2009)

A typical Japanese high school and recently transfered Monami (Yukie Kawamura) has a crush on Mizushima (Takumi Saitô), but doesn't know that he is dominated by the school bully Keiko (Eri Otoguro). Things come to a head when Monami turns Mizushima into a half vampire. For she is a vampire and when Keiko dies in a bizarre accident, her science teacher father brings her back to life ...let the battle begin.
Frenetic teen comedy with lashings of gore, what's not to like.

frankenhooker (1990)

A young woman dies, shredded in a lawnmower accident. Fortunately her boyfriend (James Lorinz) is a medical school dropout, and he decides to bring her back from the dead. His only problem is that he could only save the head. Where is he going to get a body from?
Classic trash cinema from the maker of Basket Case and Brain Damage.

lust for frankenstein (1998)

"You help me and I show you the way to ecstasy."
Moira Frankenstein (Lina Romay) is haunted by the memory of her father, the doctor who started this experimental lark, and had created the creature, he named the goddess (Michelle Bauer).
Puzzling 80's arthouse video effects, a mediocre rock soundtrack, none existant acting, and bad dubbing only serve to magnify the cheapness of this unexciting and overlong version of the Frankenstein story.

jesse james meets frankenstein's daughter (1966)

"We hold the secret of life in our hands."
Jesse James (John Lupton), the wild west outlaw is on the run from Marshal MacPhee. To give him the slip he hides out in a castle owned by Frankenstein's granddaughter Maria (Narda Onyx). She soon sets about turning Jesse's slow-witted pal Hank (Cal Bolder) into a zombie, whom she names Igor.
A melding of the Western and horror genre's proves in Beaudine's hands to be two steps too far.

frankenstein's daughter (1958)

aka She Monster of the Night.
"The Franensteins were masters who brought life from death!"
The grandson of Dr. Frankenstein has lost the stein from his name, but not the desire to create life from dead body parts. And thus his experiments inevitably unleashes a creation on the hot rod kids of 1950's LA.
Why do these scientists and doctors always make a monsters faces look like they've blugened them with an iron bar? Anyway, this is an only mildly diverting teen movie, even with a few nightclub numbers thrown in, nothing special.

frankenstein '80

"two sets of fingerprints on the same hand!"
A mad scientist named Frankenstein (Gordon Mitchell) creates a monster (Xiro Papas) who develops a sexual appetite, and likes nothing better than picking up beautiful women.
The monster's seduction technique leaves a lot to be desired - bluggening a woman's blouse off with a cows thigh bone! Other than that its a pretty mundane retelling.

lady frankenstein (1971)

aka La figlia di Frankenstein.
"Here on earth man is God."
Baron Frankenstein's daughter (Rosalba Neri) returns from university a qualified surgeon and determined to help in her father's experiments, but her father (Joseph Cotten) is not convinced.
An entertaining gothic horror, that twists the story, adding a love story sub-plot to events. Watch out for Mickey Hargitay joining in the fun, (ex husband of one Jayne Mansfield).

the astro zombies (1968)

aka Space Vampires. Space Zombies.
"It is possible therefor to control the astroman remotely."
The announcement of Tura Satana's death prompted me to seek out one of her movies I'd never seen. And so to The Astro Zombies...The authorities are worried about a spate of murders. What they don't know is that the disgruntled and severly whacked off his gourd Dr. DeMarco (John Carradine) has just been sacked by the Space Agency, and has been using the murders to obtain body parts to create an Astroman. Unfortunately for everyone he loses control of his creation, which quiet naturally goes on a killing spree...And where does Tura fit into this? Well she plays the sadistic leader of a spy ring that gets involved.
An example of the so bad it's good film genre, especially if you like the idea of watching John Carradine fiddling with lab equipment endlessly! The leaden pacing almost sent me to sleep, and it was only the appearances of Tura that livened it up, as she slaps and shoots her way through the film, in a succession of silk evening wear!

van helsing (2004)

"Why does it smell like wet dog in here?"
Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) is a man on a mission to seek out and defeat evil. Something that has brought him many enemies. When this mission brings him to Transylvania, he meets and teams up with Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale) to defeat Count Dracula (Richard Roxburgh). But they soon find out that Dracula has stumbled on Dr. Frankenstein's research and also a werewolf!
Actioner, that throws most of the Universal monsters (barring the Creature from the Black Lagoon) into the pot! Light weight, but entertaining, as long as you like CGI and wizzy gadgets.

the bride (1985)

Doctor Frankenstein (Sting) finally succeeds in creating the perfect woman, whom he calls Eva (Jennifer Beals), but not everyone thinks this is a step forward for science. Meanwhile Frankensteins original creation is making his way in life working in a circus...
A sumptuous remake of the classic horror Bride of Frankenstein, which takes much of the horror out of the story, prefering instead to concentrate on the love story between the creator and his creation.
