lili marlene (1950)

"Her father was a collaborator!"
A French girl (Lisa Daniely) becomes famous for singing the German song Lilli Marlene, ad falls for Steve (Hugh McDermott), who managers her. The Nazi's sensing a propaganda coup manage to kidnap her, and make her broadcast for them. Once the war is over, Lili re-appears in London and in Steve's life. She convinces him that she was brainwashed and forced to broadcast for the German's, but this doesn't convince the British secret service...
Predictable war drama with an unconvincing conclusion.

horrors of the black museum (1959)

Edmond Bancroft (Michael Gough), is a novelist who prides himself on how accurate he is when reporting crimes. He hits on the perfect way to do this, hypnotising his assistant into committing the crimes. But as people start to connect him to the crimes, he has to start getting his own hands dirty...
Gough gives his usual over the top performance, exactly what is needed to make this schlock work. Shocking viewing at the time, this has not weathered well, and makes for tame, though entertaining viewing now.

fiend without a face (1958)

"Major Cummings has the best explanation so far - mental vampires!"
An American airbase in Canada provokes resentment amongst the locals, who blame the atomic reactors they use for a spate of deaths. Major Jeff Cummings (Marshall Thompson) is assigned to investigate, and flirting with the sister on one of the victims Barbara Griselle (Kim Parker). Once he gets into the case he begins to suspect that a retired scientist Prof. Walgate (Kynaston Reeves), who lives by base, knows more than he is letting on about the unseen killer.
A low budget sci-fi thriller, that manages to hold itself together, and my attention, despite the obvious lack of cash on screen.
