hell night (1981)

"Can I resign now?"
Four college students, including ? (Linda Blair), pledge to spend the night in a deserted mansion, where inevitably they are stalked and killed off one by one.
Under-rated slasher.

all the right noises (1971)

"You are a good man."
Len (Tom Bell) is a loving husband and father, apart from having an affair with teenager Val (Olivia Hussey) that is. British realism that lacks much, unless you just want to revel in the scenery and look of 70's London.

the giant spider invasion (1975)

aka Invasion of the Giant Spiders.
"You ever see the movie Jaws? It makes that shark look like a goldfish!"
When a black hole opens and allows some giant spiders out, two NASA scientists, Dr Jenny Langer (Barbara Hale) and Dr Vance (Steve Brodie), have to battle to save the world.
Predictable talkie that takes too long to get to the point!

rat man (1988)

aka Ratman.
"We're only here for the money."
Terry (Janet Agren) arrives on a Caribbean island to identify her sister (Eva Grimaldi), having been told that she had been murdered, so she is puzzled when she sees the victim, is not her sibling. But then where is her sister? Along with Fred Williams (David Warbeck) she sets out to find her. But what she does not know is that a mad scientist has engineered a genetic hybrid of a monkey and a rat, producing a creature (Nelson de la Rosa) that has poisonous claws and a willingness to kill!
Very limited horror, with pacing issues.

the revenge of frankenstein (1958)

aka Blood of Frankenstein.
"I swore I would have my revenge. They will never be rid of me!"
The Baron (Peter Cushing) escapes execution and moves to Germany, to ply his trade, cunningly renamed as Dr Stein, and with the help of Dr Kleve (Francis Matthews) he starts piecing together his new monster.
Fine gothic horror sequal to the Curse of Frankenstein.

twice told tales (1963)

aka Twice-Told Tales. The Corpse-Makers. Nights of Terror.
"Old age is catching up with you."
Three tales of terror: the 1st involving a man who stumbles on a possible elixir to revitalise youth. The 2nd has Vincent Price as a reclusive and over protective father who do anything to keep his daughter with him. The last story involves the Pyncheon family who suffer from a curse and their arguing over an inheritance.
Horror anthology based on the writings of Nathaniel Hawthorne, that explore a similar road to that of Edgar Allan Poe's. American, Horror, Sydney Salkow,

the gathering (2003)

Accident victim Cassie (Christina Ricci) comes to recuperate in a small village and starts suffering visions. Could there be some connection between these and a recently unearthed 1st Century Church that seemed to have been deliberately buried?
Mystery horror, that slowly unveils: unfortunately it does so too slowly.

tinker (1949)

"He'll be better of there..."
Gypsy kid (Derek Smith) is among a number of boys who sign up to go down the coal mines to make a living, who we subsequently follow through their training.
Drama-documentary, that looks into the training that lads receive before they are sent down the mines.

the lash (1934)

"He's becoming an absolute bounder."
Waster Arthur Haughton (John Mills) has the good fortune of a millionaire father (Lyn Harding) who gives in to his every whim, but the lad comes a croppers when he triffles with one of his staff, Mary (Peggy Blythe), and is forced to marry her. Arthur is determined to keep this event secret and his business partner Alec (Leslie Perrins) is determined to use this as leverage, but then Mary turns up at the father's house.
Underwhelming, and only of interest for John Mills playing against type as a workshy fop.

master of the world (1961)

Aka Jules Verne's Master of the World
"I do believe this blaggard has convinced you that this ship is magical."
John Strock (Charles Bronson) is sent to Morgantown Pennsylvania, to investigate some mysterious events reported by the locals. He enlists Philip Evans (David Frankham) and his baloon to help, but whilst surveying the local mountain they are attacked and taken prisoner by Captain Robur (Vincent Price), who wants to stop all wars, by any means necessary using his invincible airship.
A Capt Nemo rip-off, that never gets off the ground.

house of the long shadows (1983)

AKA House Of Long Shadows.
"I believe in being realistic about these things."
Writer Kenneth Magee (Desi Arnaz Jr.) re-locates to a remote manor house for a bet. To win it he has to write a classic novel during his overnight stay, but he has to contend with several, rather odd, visitors (Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and John Carradine).
Slow burner of a horror, with a twist.
