a nightingale sang in berkeley square (1979)

aka The Big Scam. The Biggest Bank Robbery. The Mayfair Bank Caper.
"A telescope!"
Newly released ex-con, Pinky (Richard Jordan), tries to go straight, but when old chum Ivan (David Niven) hears Pinky has landed a job in a bank, he puts pressure on him to case the joint!
An under-rated caper flick, with some lovable cockney rogues, making for an effortless view.

rogue's yarn (1957)

John (Derek Bond) kills his wife in order to live the good life urged on by his mistress Michele (Nicole Maurey), but does he have the perfect alibi, or can Inspector Walker (Elwyn Brook-Jones) crack the case.
Starting with the 'ingenious plot', this thriller gets ever less thrilling as it goes.

gorbals story (1950)

"A city to be proud of..."
John Martin (Russell Hunter) relives his life story as a Glasgow lad, asnd his journey to become a famous artist.
An early attempt at a naturalistic portrait of the Glasgow working-class, and based on a successful stage play.

the girl who couldn't quite (1949)

"She loves giving me surprises..."
Ruth (Elizabeth Henson) is a troubled girl, who never smiles. The only time she did was when she encountered Tim (Bill Owen), a tramp, whilst in hospital. Her mother decides to employ Tim in an attempt to bring her out of her depression, which he does, but the shock causes her to become an amnesiac, forgetting Tim completely. In fact she starts acting frightened around him, causing him much distress.
Would be screw-ball comedy that some becomes a psychotherapy session!

the cookoo partrol (1967)

"I knew you could do it."
Freddie Garrity and his dreamers play a troop of scouts tasked by scout leader Wick (Kenneth Connor) with transporting some camping equipment, but along the way meet some burglars and eventually get the better of them.
A comedy of very limited appeal.

valley of eagles (1951)

aka Valley of the Eagles.
"You imagine the worst, I always do."
Dr Nils Ahlen (John McCallum) finds that his wife Helga (Mary Laura Wood), his assistant Nystom (Anthony Dawson), his wife Kara (Nadia Gray), and his new invention have disappeared. Inspector Peterson (Jack Warner) is assigned the case and the trail soon leads the pair into the icy wastes of Lapland.
A bright start gets bogged down in the snow.
