attack of the crab monsters (1957)

"There are many things that I do not understand..."
A group of scientists studying the effects of nuclear radiation on the wildlife of a remote pacific atoll encounter an number of mysterious events, and come to realise that they are not the only intelligent life there...
A cheaply produced piece of hokum, with the most frightening thing being Pamela Duncan's painted on eye brows! Still as b-movie creature features go, this provides much unintentional fun.

one eyed monster (2008)

"I'm the worst kind of diva, an out of work one."
A porn shoot at a snowed in mountain retreat runs into trouble when an alien possesses the vital part of star performer Ron (Ron Jeremy), and it goes on a killing spree. Then Vietnam vet Mohtz (Charles Napier) arrives.
Lacks the graphic killing to satisfy the gorehounds, or the crass comedy needed to be more than just a one joke wonder.

the naked prey (1966)

"I'm not giving them anything..."
A safari guide (Cornel Wilde) is taken prisoner by a tribe, who feel slighted when the party he heads refuses to pay them tribute. One by one the group are executed until only the man is left. As the last survivor the man is given a chance to live, but only as long as he can out pace his pursuers. Thus he is set free, naked and alone...
Film that obviously influenced Mel Gibson's Apocalypto, a simple premise that manages to keep you watching.

punishment park (1971)

"You want me to tell you what's immoral? War is immoral! Poverty is immoral! Racism is immoral! Police brutality is immoral! Oppression is immoral! Genocide is immoral! Imperialism is immoral! This country represents all those things!"
Pseudo-documentary following a group of anti-establishment types as they are forced to undertake an orienteering course through the desert. The prisoners are promised that once completed they can go free, and the police and soldiers escorting them will not interfere. But as they come close to achieving their goal, the officers become increasingly hostile, provoking their prisoners.
Peter Watkins, director of such classics as Culloden and The War Game, again makes use of a quasi-newsreel style to examine the meaning of the Declaration of Independence and the effect of youth disaffection on a country which at that time seemed to be ripping itself apart. Unfortunately, despite the exceptional acting, this has lost much of the power it would have had at the time of its release.

the galaxy invader (1985)

"Just look at him, an alien."
A drunken southern redneck (Richard Ruxton) comes across an alien and soon has the whole town out looking for it. Meanwhile a college student (Greg Dohler) who saw the aliens craft come down has brought in his college professor (Richard Dyszel) to also track it down.
Cheap, ineptly acted and filmed piece of hokum.
