mystery of the wax museum (1933)

Ivan Igor (Lionel Atwill) is left for dead in his burning wax museum, by his unscrupulous partner. Years later a reporter (Glenda Farrell) trying to get to the bottom of a series of disappearances finds the sculptor is back and has a new and unique way of modelling. And alarmingly has set his sights on 'modelling' her roommate (Fay Wray).
A classic horror.

the walking dead (1936)

"But you can't kill me for something I didn't do! You can't!"
An ex-con (Boris Karloff) is framed for murder, and sent to the electric chair. Following his death, three scientists resurrect him, and he sets out to avenge his death.
An interesting premise, that is enjoyable but doesn't quite explode to life.

the breaking point (1950)

"I'm a boat jockey, it's all I know."
Fishing boat captain Harry Morgan (John Garfield) hires his boat out and is none too particular as to who to. This policy gets him into trouble when four men who have chartered the boat turn out to be thieves on the run after a racetrack heist.
Nicely made film noir based on an Ernest Hemingway short story, full of witty one liners.

doctor x (1932)

A wisecracking newspaper journalist is trying to get a scoop on the "Moon Killer" murders, in which the victims are strangled, and cannibalized, but only during a full moon. Police believe that a scientist at the Academy of Surgical Research is responsible and question Dr. Xavier, who runs the place with a number of scientists. The journalist hides out and follows Dr X's experiments as the Dr himself tries to discover the killer. But can they do it before the next full moon, and save the Doctors daughter played by Fay Wray?
A slow start does nothing to prevent this enjoyable film soon rattling through the possibilities as we try to second guess the script and find the killer.
