A war crimes investigator Mr Wilson (Edward G. Robinson) hunts for the Nazi war criminal Franz Kindler who has erased all evidence of his existance, in an attempt to cover his tracks. But Wilson manages to follow a trail to Connecticut, and possible suspect Charles Rankin. Can he crack Rankin or will Rankin's unknowing wife Mary (Loretta Young) unravel first.
Suspense filled thriller, that racks up the tension minute by minute.

black magic (1949)

Biopic of Joseph Balsamo (Orson Welles), a poor Sicilian, who used his medical and metaphysical knowledge to rise through the courts of Europe's great and good, restyling himself Count Cagliostro, before falling before these very same people, accused of everything from counterfeiting to sorcery.
This account of his life focuses on one element, the Affair of the Diamond Necklace, when he was embroiled in a political dogfight surrounding some diamonds and Marie Antoinette. This leads the production into becoming a romantic melodrama, literally missing a trick.

the lady from shanghai (1947)

"Everybody is somebody's fool."
A sailor (Orson Welles) gets involved with Mrs. Bannister (Rita Hayworth), who pursuades him to work on her husband's yacht. In doing so he is thrown into a murder plot.
A taut and wonderfully directed film noir, full of memorable set pieces and the visual flair that comes with a Welles picture.
