escape to victory (1981)
aka Victory.
"I think this whole matter is not important!"
Capt. John Colby (Michael Caine) gets involved in a football match between Prisoners of War and the German army, during WWII. Which is seen as the perfect opportunity as a cover for a team's escape, with help from the French Resistance.
With a team including Pele, and Bobby Moore, amongst other international players, this peaks the interest of football, and war film fans. Though it has to be said, the actors cannot play football, and the footballers make little attempt to act. And once Sylvester Stallone joins the team, all pretense of seriousness goes out the window.
