let me in (2010)

"Do you want to hang out with me again tonight?"
A withdrawn young man Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee), befriends a new neighbour, Abby (Chloë Grace Moretz). She subsequently helps him come out of his shell and fight back against the bullies who plague his school days.
Remake of the disturbing love story Let The Right One In. In this the director stays true to the original concept, whilst jettisoning some of the originals sub-plots, and adding his own flavour. What we end up with is a strong film, only bettered by the original.

  1. I really enjoyed the original and usually stick away from remakes, maybe I'll give this one a try though.

  2. It's interesting to compare and hard not to as you watch it. This version strips the story down to it's bare minimum, but adds some great set pieces worthy of the original. It will never match the original, but its an assured film.
    I too tend to steer away from re-makes, believing there is a law of deminishing returns around them. But this one works.
