aka Horror Of Dracula.Jonathan Harker arrives at Castle Dracula as the new librarian. In truth he is there to kill the Count. A plan that soon goes awry and things go wrong when Van Helsing turns up to find his friend has succumbed and become a vampire. Helsing then realises he has to defend Harker's fiancée, Lucy from the Counts interest.
Hammer's first look at the Dracula story is a snappily paced run through, with barely time to draw breath. Christopher Lee, brings a level of sex and violence to Dracula that was missing in previous incarnations. And Peter Cushing delivers what could be the definitive Van Helsing performance. This set the pattern that Hammer were to follow for the next twenty years, a classic Gothic horror.
