curse of the devil (1973)

aka El retorno de Walpurgis. The Return of Walpurgis. The Black Harvest of Countess Dracula. Return of the Werewolf.
"Take this sacred skull and continue his damnation."
When a medieval knight breaks up a satanist coven, its leader curses his descendants. Forward four centuries and the inquisitors descendant, Waldemar Daninsky (Paul Naschy), is in shock having accidentally shot a gypsy whilst on a wolf hunt. The gypsies take none to kindly to this, and set about enacting the curse by sending the mysterious Ilona (Ines Morales) to start his downfall.
Romantic thriller, plays out in a coherent manner, something that cannot be said for some others in the Naschy canon.

john carpenter's vampires (1998)

aka Vampires. "For 600 years I have fed on your kind at will."
A vampire slayer (James Woods) has most of his team trashed by Valek (Thomas Ian Griffith), a particularly nasty vampire. With long term sidekick Montoya (Daniel Baldwin) and recently bitten Katrina (Sheryl Lee) along for the ride, he has to find and protect an ancient religious relic, the black cross. Why? Because Valek has found out that should he acquire it then he will be able to walk in the day.
Enjoyable romp, despite the annoyingly huge plot holes.

fright night 2 (1988)

"1, there are no Vampires. 2, thre is a rational explaination for this..."
After three years of therapy, Charley (William Ragsdale) has come to believe that vampire's don't exist. To finally rid himself of his ghosts he plucks up the courage to meet Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall) again, and brings his new girlfriend, (Traci Lind), along for support. Unfortunately for Charley vampires do exist, and they are out for revenge.
Continuing the theme, but with added comedy, and gore.

fright night (1985)

"He's a VAMPIRE!"
What happens when teenager Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) finds out that his new next door neighbour Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon) is a vampire? Having drawn a blank with his family and friends, he turns to Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), a ham actor and the host of Fright Night, Charlies favourite TV show. Will believe him?
Lighthearted horror, that makes for a fine late night frightfest.

assignment terror (1970)

aka Los monstruos del terror. Dracula Vs. Frankenstein. Operation Terror. The Man Who Came from Ummo. Dracula Versus Frankenstein.
"Our superior minds must always be in control."
Aliens bring two scientists (Michael Rennie and Karin Dor) back from the dead, so they can re-animate various monsters, including a werewolf, Frankenstein's monster, a mummy, and a vampire.
Written and starring Paul Naschy, so you know that a werewolf can't be far away in this convoluted tale, featuring every horror monster you can think of.

charlie chan in the chinese ring (1947)

aka The Chinese Ring.
"A interesting situation."
A Chinese woman is murdered in Charlie Chan's (Roland Winters) house, so naturally his interest is peaked as to why she wanted to see him, and who would want her dead. Enter No.2 son (Victor Sen Yung) to klutz it up and Birmingham (Mantan Moreland) to clown around.
One of the lesser Chan movies, as it lacks any sort of mystery, and seems to play out by the numbers.

maniac cop 3: badge of silence (1993)

aka Badge of Silence: Maniac Cop III. MC3: Maniac Cop 3.
"Your spirit will never be at rest will it, Officer Cordell."
Cordell (Robert Z'Dar) is back, pursuing a case of injustice. Officer Katie Sullivan (Gretchen Becker), is involved in a shoot out and ends up braindead, accused of police brutality, and Cordell takes up her case. Det. Sean McKinney (Robert Davi) isn't so happy to hear about Cordell's return to the beat, or his interest in Sullivan.
Entertaining slasher/actioner, that is a solid sequel.
