who done it (1956)

"None of us are infallible."
Hugo Dill (Benny Hill), an avid reader of detective fiction, decides to become a private detective and soon ends up out of his depth. He takes a job impersonating an Eastern European scientist, who wants it to appear that he has died, and who do you think will be killed in his place? Complicating things is Dill's love for Frankie Mayne (Belinda Lee), who is trying to keep her occupation as a strong woman a secret from him.
Benny Hill's film debut is not a sophisticated one, or one that is particularly funny, and has something of a warmed over Will Hay or George Formby about it.
