the ghost breakers (1940)

"I'm through mixing with murders, my own and murder of others."
Crime journalist Larry Lawrence (Bob Hope) accidentally gets caught up in a shooting, and mistakenly believes he has killed a racketeer. Fleeing the scene he is persuaded by Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard) to hideout at her ancestral home, a reputedly haunted castle, on a small island off Cuba.
A successful blend of comedy, thrills and chills.

the twilight saga: new moon (2009)

"You won't stay with me any other way."
Edward (Robert Pattinson) leaves Bella (Kristen Stewart) for her own good, but she cannot accept this, and swaps mopping over a vampire for a the protection of a werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner).
Better CGI than the previous installment, and the arrival of the wolfpack adds more story and interest, but these two cannot rescue the film from the lame scripting.

"This is a candid look at Paul Anka from both sides of the footlights."
Documentary about 50's teen idol Paul Anka and his continued success as he moves between appearances in front of screaming girls at amusement parks, and the sophisticated cabaret circuit. A reputed influence on Peter Watkins and his movie Privilege.

"I never welsh on a deal"
The story of how John Dillinger (Nick Adams) went from a young thug, to become public enemy no.1 in prohibition era America, when he hooks up with the likes of Baby Face Nelson (John Ashley) and Pretty Boy Floyd (Robert Conrad).
Low budget, thrill a minute ride.

"There is something up and not a moment to lose."
When an undercover agent is killed Dick Barton (Don Stannard) is forced to fake his own death in an attempt to recover a death ray that has been stolen by the Russians.
A vast improvement on the previous installments, and a better swansong for Stannard, (who died before this was released).
