rock! rock! rock! (1956)

"I sure hope I find someone as nice as Tommy."
A school dance is coming up and Dori (Tuesday Weld) is desperate to get a new dress, to compete with Gloria (Jacqueline Kerr) who is trying to steal her boyfriend Tommy (Teddy Randazzo) from her.
A very stilted musical, but compelling because of its stellar line up of rock and roll performers including Chuck Berry, LaVern Baker, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, The Flamingos, The Moonglows and The Johnny Burnette Trio.

quicksand (1950)

"I can put it back tomorrow as soon as I get that Twenty bucks from Buzz."
An auto mechanic Dan (Mickey Rooney) takes $20 from the cash register, so he can impress Vera (Jeanne Cagney), and take her out. Unfortunately this simple action starts a chain of events that plunges him into a series of events that make him ever more desperate, and brings him into the sphere of Nick (Peter Lorre)...
A morality play, with an unlikable central character, that soon looses its appeal.

sister emanuelle (1977)

aka Suor Emanuelle.
"Lets not waste it."
Emanuelle (Laura Gemser) has retreated from the world and entered a convent. But when she is charged with helping the wayward Monika (Mónica Zanchi), it brings back memories of her old life and Emanuelle begins to question whether she has made the right choice.
Monotonous!

seven blood stained orchids (1972)

aka Sette orchidee macchiate di rosso.
"Lets put it down to a maniac."
The 'half-moon maniac', is being hunted by the police, and by survivor Giulia (Uschi Glas), and her newly wed husband (Antonio Sabato). They try to find the connection between Guilia and the other victims: before the murderer strikes again.
Mildly diverting detective thriller, all be it one that is rather formulaic.

acid, delirium of the senses (1968)

aka Acid, Delirio Dei Sensi.
"Anything that gets in the way of my freedom hurts me."
A pseudo doc on the rise of lsd, morphs into a drama following the various people involved, from the mafia types supplying, to the hip young things desperate to be on the scene, and the effect the drug has on their lives.
Exploitation film purporting to expose the underground of New York, that's really an underwhelming drama.

the mackintosh man (1973)

"Even the best of politicians have to compromise sometimes."
A plan is hatched to allow Joseph Rearden (Paul Newman), a member of British Intelligence, to infiltrate a spy ring and find a traitor. In order to do so, Rearden is imprisoned, and subsequently joins up with Slade (Ian Bannen) in an escape. But can he keep up his cover long enough to expose the quisling.
Lackluster spy thriller, that never sparks into life.
