faces in the dark (1960)

"I can't hurt you, you know, I'm blind!"
Inventor and businessman Richard Hammond (John Gregson) is blinded in a freak lab accident. To aid his recuperation, his wife (Mai Zetterling), partner (Michael Denison) and brother (John Ireland) take him to his country house, but he soon starts to notice little things are different, and suspect all is not what it seems.
Well developed thriller, that although little happens, manages to involve you in Hammond's increased unease.

lover boy (1975)

"What a view!"
Teenager Carletto (Valerio Fioravanti) falls for the wife of his late grandfather, the young and lusty Maria (Edwige Fenech), when she arrives to stay with the family.He tries to keep her to himself but once the rest of the men in the family see her, they all compete for her affections.
Low rent sex comedy, and not much of that!

sleepaway camp (1983)

"Somebody help them!"
A lakeside camp is witness to a gruesome accidental killing of a girl and her father, all seen by the a surviving boy, when a teenager runs them down in a speedboat. Eight years later and Richard and his cousin Angela (Jonathan Tiersten & Felissa Rose) arrive at the camp. He's looking forward to an exciting holiday, whilst she is less happy about the prospect. Then the 'accidents' start to happen...
Standard summer camp slasher horror, lifted by its inclusion of the sexual identity subplot.

the flesh and blood show (1972)

"That witchcraft scene needs a lot of work to it."
A company of actors, (including Ray Brooks, Jenny Hanley and Robin Askwith), are rehearsing a show at a seaside theater when they start being bumped off by an unknown assailant.
A film that delivers on its promise, featuring plenty of female flesh and much blood letting. The final scene was originally shown in 3-D.

vampira (1974)

aka Old Dracula.
"Something weird about him."
Dracula (David Niven) is reduced to hosting tours of his castle in his hunt for victims, and in order to revive his beloved, Vampira. He sees his chance when four Playboy Playmates arrive. Unfortunately one of the Playmates whose blood is drained is black, turning the revived Vampira (Teresa Graves) into a black woman. Thus Dracula sets out to collect some more blood from the other playmates in an attempt to restore Vampira to her original color. This means a journey to London, where the girls have moved on to.
A farce based on the Vampire genre, which unfortunately fails to inject any comedy into the proceedings.

sightseers (2012)

"He's not a person, he's a Daily Mail reader!"
Chris (Steve Oram) takes his new girlfriend Tina (Alice Lowe) on holiday, touring the north of England in a caravan, but her sheltered life is soon opened up more than she could ever have imagined...
Very black comedy, stylishly made and with some gory flashes that keep you on your toes.

a gun for george (2011)

"He never thought words would fail him."
Holness gives us a short homage to vigilante films with his distinctly bleak and very black humour.

sssssss (1973)

aka Ssssnake. Hissssss.
"Long live the king."
Dr. Stoner (Strother Martin), who researches into snakes, hires David (Dirk Benedict), as his lab assistant. Little knowning that the doctor's experiment's include a serum to transform a man into a King Cobra, which he plans to test on David.
Understated little creature feature, with a shock ending, that you can see coming from miles away.

bottoms up (1974)

aka Auf der Alm da gibt's koa Sünd.
"Would you like me to stroke your slide rule?"
A professor has invented a new fuel, and is kidnapped by a couple of spies for doing so, but not before passing on the secret to a local petrol pump attendant.
Low end slapstick sex comedy, dubbed into English.

devil hunter (1980)

aka El caníbal.
"You'll get over it in time I promise."
Vietnam vet, Peter (Al Cliver), charges to the rescue of Laura (Ursula Buchfellner), a model kidnapped and hidden on an island of cannibals, but he doesn't bank on also having to confront their Devil god.
Nonsensical nonsense from the mind of Jess Franco, featuring prosaic direction, bad acting and an even worse script.

groupie girl (1970)

aka I Am A Groupie.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
Bored teenager (Esme Johns) is enticed by the bright lights of London, and smuggles herself in a groups van to get there. On being discovered she falls in with their lifestyle, but soon finds out there is very little glamour in the rock star life when the band get bored of you.
Far better film, than the title would lead you to believe, but one that doesn't betray it's exploitation roots.

the mansion of madness (1973)

aka Dr. Goudron's System. Dr. Tarr's Pit of Horrors. Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon. House of Madness. The System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Feather. Edgar Allan Poe: Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon.
"Do as thou will, be the whole of the law."
A reporter (Arthur Hansel) visits a famous mental institution and interviews the doctor (Claudio Brook) running the place about his methods. But little does he know that the inmates have taken over the asylum.
A mash up of art house cinema, and exploitation film.

sinister (2012)

"Have a nice morning with your murder victims."
True crime writer Ellison (Ethan Hawke) moves his family to a house where the previous family had all been murdered, apart from the young daughter who was still missing. Whilst researching the killings Ellison finds a box of Super-8 film in the attic, and cannot believe what the films depict.
A film of chills, rather than thrills, brooding, but with a few shocks along the way.
