truck turner (1974)

"You're a gross son of a bitch."
Truck Turner (Isaac Hayes) is a tough as nails bails bondsman. When a crook dies in a shootout, his partner (Nichelle Nichols) puts a hit on Truck in revenge. Can Truck survive the mean streets with a number of pimps after him, especially Harvard Blue (Yaphet Kotto).
A cool soundtrack courtesy of Isaac Hayes, only adds to the pleasure of this blacksploitation classic.

kiss meets the phantom of the park (1978)

aka Attack of the Phantoms.
"All wrongs will be righted tonight."
Mad scientist Abner Devereaux (Anthony Zerbe) works in an amusement park, building a secret army of human/robot hybrids. When his assistant goes missing, (turned into a robot by Devereaux), his girlfriend is determined to find him, and enlists the help of KISS, who are playing a series of concerts at the park. Can Gene and the gang defeat the mastermind, save the world, and finish their residency?
Unfortunately instead of a rock n roll extravaganzy what we get is a weak live action version of a scooby doo cartoon.

lust for frankenstein (1998)

"You help me and I show you the way to ecstasy."
Moira Frankenstein (Lina Romay) is haunted by the memory of her father, the doctor who started this experimental lark, and had created the creature, he named the goddess (Michelle Bauer).
Puzzling 80's arthouse video effects, a mediocre rock soundtrack, none existant acting, and bad dubbing only serve to magnify the cheapness of this unexciting and overlong version of the Frankenstein story.

the ghost in the invisible bikini (1966)

"I can think of three reasons, 38, 24, 36."
A corpse (Boris Karloff) is given the chance to return to earth, but only if he can do a good deed within 24 hours. Thus he enlists his dead girlfriend (Susan Hart) to help stop lawyer, Reginald Ripper (Basil Rathbone) from doing his heirs, Chuck (Tommy Kirk), Lili (Deborah Walley), and Myrtle (Patsy Kelly), out of their rightful part of his estate.
AIP mix the two genre's that were making money for them, the gothic horror and the Beach party film. Unfortunately this results in a lackluster version of both, but it does feature Nancy Sinatra and the Bobby Fuller Four, so things ain't all bad.

Frontier(s) (2007)

aka Frontière(s).
"What is this?"
A gang of teenage crooks end up on the run from Paris after a failed robbery. They take refuge in a rural hotel, but unknown to them their hosts are neo-nazi cannibals, and being of Algerian stock doesn't help the gang...
A film that throws just about everything it can at you, moving from gangland thriller, into Texas Chainsaw Massacre cannibal territory, mixing in a bit of Marathon Man for good measure. All in all a satisfying meal.
