rumble in the bronx (1995)

aka Hung Fan Kui.
"They were looking for you..."
Keung (Jackie Chan) arrives in the Bronx from Hong Kong, and agrees to help Elaine (Anita Mui) who has bought his uncle's supermarket. Unfortunately when Keung stops a local gang from stealing they are determined to make him pay. Then Jackie unwittingly gets involved with some stolen diamonds, that some very heavy people want badly.
Jackie again plays the all round good guy, in a story with plenty of action for him to show off his athletic set pieces.

zéro de conduite (1933)

"Our conspiracy is ready."
Four boys return to the harsh environment of their boarding school, but this time decide that they are going to make it a term to remember and rebel.
Classic short, that was a major influence on Lyndsay Anderson's If.

die another day (2002)

"that's a mouthful."
Bond (Pierce Brosnan) is compromised, considered a traitor that cracked under torture once captured by the North Koreans. Thus he has to escape his own people and find the man that put him in this position.
Brosnan plays a fine Bond, one that looks like he would have no compunction to kill, and as usual there's some eye candy, in this case in the very shapely figure of Halle Berry.

the big heat (1953)

"It was bad judgment to bother a cop's widow about the love life of her husband."
Principled cop Dave Bannion (Glenn Ford) takes against the local gang boss Lagana (Alexander Scourby). A campaign that turns into a way of life when his wife is killed instead of him. Just how far will Bannion go to get his man?
Classic noir, due to solid turns all round, including Gloria Grahame and Lee Marvin.

the dark (2005)

"One of the living for one of the dead."
A mother (Maria Bello) and her daughter (Sophie Stuckey) visit her estranged husband (Sean Bean), who is living in a remote coastal area of Wales. Whilst there they hear tales of a cult that used to live in the house before committing suicide in search of Annwyn: the land of the dead. Shortly after the daughter goes missing presumed drowned, can the mother bring her back from Annwyn.
A slight tale, that at the same time manages to be confusing, though one that is full of suspense.

shaolin and wu tang (1983)

aka Shao Lin yu Wu Dang.
"He's not going to tell you, they make stubbornness a virtue."
Chao Fung-wu (Adam Cheng), and Hung Jun-kit (Gordon Liu), are close friends, and students in rival forms of martial arts Shaolin and Wutang. Unfortunately the local Qing Lord (Wang Lung Wei) is determined to learn both styles...
Another martial arts film that is central to the world of the Wu Tang Clan, who took their name and some samples from this film.
