lift to the scaffold (1958)

aka Ascenseur Pour l'Echafaud. Elevator To The Gallows.
"Where were you on Saturday night."
Julian Tavernier (Maurice Ronet) is having an affair with his bosses wife Florence (Jeanne Moreau). They plan his murder to look like suicide, but one little mistake leaves him trapped in a lift, trying to figure a way out, and her wandering the bars of Paris, brooding, wondering where he is.
Classic new wave cinema, right down to Miles Davis's improvised soundtrack, the evocative look of Paris at night, and the noirish story, that is in no hurry to reveal itself.
